Looking Back: This Year’s Eurojuris Congress in Frankfurt

Looking Back: This Year’s Eurojuris Congress in Frankfurt

From 10 to 13 of October, Eurojuris members and friends came together at the Annual Eurojuris Congress. This year, the Congress took us to Frankfurt, the perfect venue for business.

Why did we choose Frankfurt? The city offers great diversity: banks and big business, trade shows and shopping, culture, and traditions. The Main metropolis has something for everyone!

The meeting was held at the Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof, in the heart of the financial district and the historical city centre. The Maintower, Römer and Paulskirche were only a few steps away so that our members could visit and explore the city centre in their spare time.

On Thursday evening, the welcome dinner took place at MainNizza, a modern-chic restaurant next to the river Main where we dined in a relaxed, “feel at home” atmosphere. Since most of the participants had already arrived, we were delighted to welcome many familiar faces. Long-standing friendships were cultivated, and new friendships made.

The Practice Groups started their sessions on Friday. Our specialists worked on Corporate Law, Employment Law, Insolvency, Restructuring and Banking Law, International Litigation and Contracts, International Trade Transport & Insurance Law, and Real Estate Law. In a joint session, the Insolvency, Restructuring and Banking Group and the Real Estate Law Group tackled interdisciplinary issues. Other Practice Groups had organised a visit, such as the International Litigation and Contracts Group with a visit to the Chamber for International Commercial Disputes of the Landgericht Frankfurt.

The intensive programme continued: A visit to the European Central Bank (ECB) followed by social and sporting events. Our football team scored goals, while ELLA, the Eurojuris Lady Lawyers Association, enjoyed drinks. The evening dinner on Friday took us to the restaurant Opera, an enchanting and beautiful venue inside the Alte Oper building. Before, all German-speaking members gathered in the hotel bar to launch a new Eurojuris initiative: the German Desk.

Saturday offered a wide-ranging programme. In the morning, the General Assembly was in session and appointed Olivier Vibert of IFL Avocats in Paris as the new President of Eurojuris International. The International Business Group (IBG) held its meeting while Nigel Haddon, Pricing Consultant at Burcher Jennings, held private sessions (a “Pricing Surgery”) with members to discuss pricing strategies and specific pricing matters. In the Plenary Session, guest speaker Nick Marson of Parallel Mind discussed “The Person-Centred Law Firm”. Chris Marston continued the subject in his management session with the topic: “Further, together: realise the potential of your people”.

The National Stands celebrated diversity and intercultural relations. Our fantastic members put in a lot of effort and presented their countries brilliantly! There was a great variety of dishes, drinks, national dresses, and crafts. For the closing dinner, the Eurojuris family went on a fabulous boat trip to celebrate the end of the Congress.

A big thank you to all participants and friends. The Congress would not have been as delightful and exciting without you!
