Recently appointed President of our Swiss network, Cristina von Holzen has been thriving as a lawyer for the past 15 years. Holding a PHD in Law from the University of Basel, she is taking on the challenge of bringing the small but highly efficient network to the next level without leaving her work & life balance behind. Cristina - not so surprisingly for a Swiss national - is an enthusiast hiker & skier as well as a flute musician and a talented choir singer.
Tell us about yourself and your law firm?
“Thank you for giving me the opportunity to introduce the Swiss Eurojuris network, our law firm and myself. I have been admitted to the bar in 2002. Since 2006, I have been working with the law firm of Lenz Caemmerer in Basel, mainly dealing with civil and company law, litigation, execution law and international private law.”
“Lenz Caemmerer has two offices, one in Basel, and one in Karlsruhe-Erfurt, Germany - fruit of a successful EJ partnership. Both offices were founded more than 50 years ago. In the late nineties, the Swiss and German partners met at a Eurojuris congress and decided that a cross-border teamwork could make the difference. We are very happy and proud to have successfully witnessed the success of this cross-border teamwork with our German colleagues since 1999”.
“The Basel office mainly deals with business law and notarial services. The expertise of our lawyers covers intellectual property law, inheritance, banking law family law, tax law, and succession planning. Our services include advising and representing our clients in court and we successfully represent clients in major commercial cases.”
How would you describe Eurojuris Switzerland?
“Small, but fine is the motto of Eurojuris Switzerland. We are counting six member firms for the moment. We all know each other on a personal basis, which of course is very useful when working together or referring cases. Normally, we officially meet once a year officially, but we tend to see each other on many other occasions, including Eurojuris International congresses.
What is your strategic plan for the Swiss network ?
“I am happy that I could take over a well-organised network from the former President Dr. Beat Eisner. The plan for the coming years is to acquire new member firms and to strengthen the networking within Switzerland.”
Did you attend our congress in Prague last week ?
“Yes, I really appreciated to participate at the Eurojuris Congress in Prague. It was a pleasure meeting a lot of colleagues again, many of them became friends over the years. I also enjoyed the discussions in the practice group and – of course – the networking besides the official sessions. Last but not least: Prague was a wonderful city to host the Congress.”
