What you missed in Marseille

What you missed in Marseille

Eurojuris members gathered in Marseille from Thursday 12th to Saturday 14th May 2016.

The sun played hide and seek on the Côte d’Azur over these three days, but warmth and laughter came from our Eurojuris members who showed up in numbers to the first meeting of the year.

A welcome dinner was held in  Les Arcenaulx, a very quaint restaurant surrounded by old books and well known for its French bouillabaisse.  Not far form there, Jurismus was welcoming its guests at La Passerelle.  This first dinner was the occasion for many members to meet and greet in a pleasant atmosphere to kick start this three-day event.

The General Assembly counting all national presidents met on Friday 13th over several hours and reported having a very good exchange of ideas.  The same was done for the French national assembly that took place later on.

During that time, the EJ IBG Meeting was very well attended with participation of approx. 25 lawyers from our IBG member firms.  Beat Eisner comments : “The programme was split in two parts: in part one, the IBG members present gave a short presentation on topics included in the EJ IBG guide on 'How to expand your business across borders'. In the second part, we had presentations on networking opportunities from our HLB International guest speakers, Arnold Ch. R. Stange from HLB Dr. Stückmann & Partner mbB in Germany and Marc Lichtenberg from HLB Van Daal & Partners N.V. in the Netherlands”.

The French delegation took the opportunity of this event to organise a round table thanks to a great number of participants of members from the Provence, Alpes & Côtes d’Azur region.  The network is particularly well established in the South of France where 15 law firms and bailiffs are situated and counts 75 law experts.

Intellectual Property PG took its members to visit a new start up in Marseille and Eurojuris International workshops were organised for the first time and generated a lot of interest.  Elective sessions were offered to members who had to choose between Client Satisfaction, a talk held by Chris Marston, CEO of LawNet, Building Successful & Profitable Conference facilitated by Helen Hamilton-Shaw, LawNet Strategy Director and Technology for Lawyers mediated by Thor Harald Eike, Eurojuris Norway.

Following those working sessions, a cocktail and networking party was jointly hosted by Eurojuris France.  Another great opportunity to catch up and develop new partnerships and business prospects.  Members hopped onboard of “le petit train” which took them around the harbour to their final destination : Les Halles de la Major where Mediterranean delicacies were served.

On Saturday 13th, PG meetings were held, some of them took this opportunity to organise joined sessions with outstanding external speakers such as Arnold Stange (HLB), Marc Lichtenberg (HLBI), Denis Mouralis (ITL) and Sebastien Tiran (IPG).

Football always being a caterer of troops, a friendly match was organised on Olympic de Marseille soil for gentlemen while the ladies headed up the Sofitel roof terrace for drinks.

To conclude this busy three-day congress, a dinner party was organised at Le Palais du Pharo where President Niels Eriksen welcomed participants and new members with Champagne.  Here again, a pleasant atmosphere where speakers, organisers and attendees enjoyed one another’s company.

If you missed Marseille, make sure to attend our upcoming congress in Prague from 13th to 16th October 2016 (www.eurojuris-meeting.net).
